Is there no end to Australian coloratura sopranos making a mark on International stages? Emma Matthews scored a hit at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden as the Vixen in Janacek’s CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN last year, Jessica Pratt is to sing Lucia in Donizetti’s LUCIA DI LAMMERMOOR at the Teatro La Fenice Venice in May of this year, and the Queen of the Night in THE MAGIC FLUTE at the Royal Opera Covent Garden. Rachelle Durkin is to cover Anna Netrebko in the role of Norina in Donizetti’s DON PASQUALE for the Metropolitan Opera in New York in February.

Elena Xanthoudakis is to cover Diana Damrau in the role of the Countess Adele in Rossini’s LE COMTE ORY for the Metropolitan Opera in New York,  Jemmy in Rossini’s GUILLAUME TELL for the BBC Proms, and gala concerts in the UK, Poland and Australia as well as her Wigmore Hall Debut.  with performances of  both the roles of Lisa and Amina in Bellini’s LA SONNAMBULA at the Royal Opera Covent Garden in the future. In 2012 she will sing Clorinda in Rossini’s LA CENERENTOLA at the Glyndebourne Festival.
